Biographical information

Salvador Jacinto Polo de Medina (Murcia, 1603 - Alcantarilla, (Murcia), 1676), escritor y poeta barroco español perteneciente al Siglo de Oro.
Se educó en su ciudad de nacimiento, y en 1630 debía estar en Madrid, pues allí apareció su primer libro, Academias del jardín. En 1633 apareció en Murcia Ocios de la soledad. En 1638 se ordenó sacerdote, y fue rector del Seminario de San Fulgencio de Murcia.

Spanish baroque writer and poet belonging of the Siglo de Oro. He was educated in Murcia, and in 1630 he must have been in Madrid, as it was there that his first book, Academias del jardín appeared. In 1633, his Ocios de la soledad appeared in Murcia. In 1638 he was ordained as a priest, and was rector of the Seminary of San Fulgencio in Murcia. A pair of his Fabulas are included in the Universidad de Amor and contain poetic references to the vihuela.
