INSTRUMENT
A mermaid playing a vihuela de arco. The istrument has a large body, curved bridge and tailpiece with f-holes in the upper bouts. It appears to have a raised fingerboard, ending in an angled pegpox, probably channelled, with lateral pegs, This print was recut for the 1604 reprint of the Emblemas morales. (see 16-316a)
