Held in the Museo Cerralbo, Madrid, inventory no. 04593. Description from the museum catalogue: “Pintura al óleo sobre lienzo que representa a la Virgen con el Niño en brazos rodeada de ángeles, dispuestos en tres alturas, que tocan distintos instrumentos, el clavicordio, la vihuela, el arpa y el órgano, entre otros. Esta obra, conocida como "Concierto celestial", se titula en realidad "Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles", ya que se trata de una réplica de la obra encargada por Felipe III para presidir la iglesia del convento de los capuchinos del Cristo del Pardo.” [Oil painting on canvas representing the Virgin with Child in her arms surrounded by angels, arranged in three levels, playing different instruments, the harpsichord, the vihuela, the harp and the organ, among others. This work, known as "Celestial Concert", is actually called "Our Lady of the Angels", since it is a replica of the work commissioned by Philip III to preside over the church of the Capuchin convent of the Cristo del Pardo.]
INSTRUMENT
Very little of this vihuela is visible, insufficient to make a full analysis. The visible parts are the lower bout on the bass side , including the ribs and the end of the bridge, the treble side of the same, part of the upper bout. Other instruments enjoy much greater prominence in this painting.
