ARTWORK
This painting formed part of the decoration of the dome of the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús (Córdoba, Argentina), which was destroyed by fire in 1967. The inside of the dome is blackened with smoke, and the picture is no longer visible. The church was extensively photographed in 1942 by Buschiazzo. The church is part of the Manzana Jesuítica in Córdoba. It was declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2000. The Jesuits arrived in Argentina in 1589. The church where this painting was located was not consecrated until 1671. The painting is believed to date from the end of the 17th century. The photo in page2011 is reproduced from buschiazzo
