Mentioned by Pepe Rey (lecture, 25 March, 1998 in Madrid), these coplas refer to lute duos similar to those described by Polk. In one place there is a reference to the “laúd” and “guitarra” together. At another point these are referred to as “tenorista” and “discantor”. Evidence for the kind of music they may have played is in the “Música para discantar” of Valderrábano, and pieces in the Segovia MS.
