Marqués de Santillana, Serranailla III “Illana, la serrana de Lozoyuela”

Incorrect reference to the vihuela in some editions of the poetry of the Marqués de Santillana.

[Erroneous text:]
Después que naçí
non vi tal serrana
como esta mañana.
Allá en la vigüela
a Mata l'Espino,
en este camino
que va a Loçoyuela,
de guisa la vi,
que mi fiizo gana
la fruta temprana...

[correct text]
  Después que nascí,
non vi tal serrana
como esta mañana.
    Allá en la vegüela
a Mata el Espino,
en ese camino
que va a Lozoyuela,
de guisa la vi
que me fizo gana
la fruta temprana.
    Garnacha traía
de oro, presada
con broncha dorada,
que bien relucía...

In some editions of the seranillas of the Marquis of Santillana, there is a misspelling in which the intended word “vegüela” (pathway, track) is written as “vihuela” (see above). The serrana in the poem was dressed in a “garnacha” (a long garment that goes to the ankles) pinned together with a golden “broncha” (brooch).
