Summary

Yesterday a cabaIlero
came. mother, to court me;
I cannot forget him.
The sight of him consoles me
as much as I console him,
and, if he is distressed,
likewise I am distressed.
He comes here with his vihuela
each night to sing,
I cannot forget him.

Original text

Ayer vino vn cauallero
mi madre ame namorar
no lo puedo yo oluidar.
Su vista ya me consuela
tanto quanto lo consuelo
que si el tiene desconsuelo
lo mismo a mi desconsuela.
Que viene con su vihuela
cada noche aqui a cantar
no lo puedo yo oluidar.
