“Don Alonso de Arcilla [sic] y Zúñiga (1594 + 1595) among the items in the inventory of his possessions are “a double harp of pearwood with all its tuning pins (clabaçon) and with its tuning key (templador) of silver, and an ebony vihuela with a rose.” This is an early reference to the double harp, and suggests an ornate vihuela.
