Verum: nunc vulgus eam ubique leutum apellat. Et forsan ad differentiam quorumdam aliorum instrumentorum: que ex ipssa lyra: progressu temporis apud diversas regiones inventa sunt. Siquidem hispanorum invento: ex lyra processit instrumentum quod ipsi ac Itali violam Gallici vero dimidum leutum vocant.

Et quamvis aliqui ad hoc instrumentum id est leutum: quaslibet cantilenas (ut supra tetigimus) jocundissime concinant: ad violam tamem sine arculo in Italia et hispania frequentius. Viola vero sum arculo: non solum ad hanc usum: sed etiam ad historiarum recitationem in plerisque partibus orbis assumitur.

Et hanc sonitor mano sinistra non modo
sustinet: verum etiam digitorum ipstus
attactu: chordas deprimit ac elevat.
Altera vero: aut digitis ejus aut plectro
chordas ipsas percutit.
