Antolínez de Piedrabuena appears to be the pseudonym of Dominican friar Benito Ruiz according to an unsubstantiated claim by Nicholas Antonio in 1672. Antolinez is the author of the popular book Universidad de Amor (see bibiliographical reference. The texts mentioning the vihuela are included in documents.
According to the Wikipedia article on him (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benito_Ruiz, accessed 11/04/2020), Antolinez “wrote an allegorical novel in the form of a dream that was quite successful, “Universidad de amor y escuelas del interés. Verdades soñadas o sueño verdadero. Al pedir de las mujeres”, it came out as a miscellany of different authors at the expense of Francisco de Robles (Madrid: Alonso Martinez, 1636) in the company of three mythological fables, two burlesques by Salvador Jacinto Polo de Medina (”Fabula de Apolo” and “Daphne y Fabula de Pan y Syringa”), and one, the “Fabula de las tres diosas” the three goddesses, by Gabriel del Corral; completes the block a speech by Hipolito Laurencio de Castilla in prose and verse entitled “El mayor dolor de amor”, and a romance “A un hombre muy largo de cuerpo”
The “Universidad de amor” is a satire against women's greed that can be compared to the “Cartas del caballero de la Tenaza” by Quevedo, which takes the allegorical form of a university where women are educated in greed, intrigue, deceit and interest; according to their qualifications in different subjects they are given the university degree corresponding to their merits. The work is a masterpiece of conceptualism, in the sense that it is a continuous and chained succession of misunderstandings from the beginning to the end; it is also written with grace and humour.” [end of quoted passage]
