• The vihuela is mentioned with other instruments in his poem “Coplas que hizo sobre la gala
• He was active in the courts of Juan II of Castile (1406-1454) and Alfonso V el Magnánimo (1416-1458).
• Some details in his poems suggest him to have been a nobleman.
• 1473. it is possible that he was still in Naples at this time and met there with Juan de Valladolid, as can be confirmed through surviving documentation.
• Most of his surviving poems are in the Cancionero de Palacio
• A reply by him to a poem by Fernán Pérez de Guzmán is in the Cancionero de Baena,
• At least one other poem is in the Cancionero de Estúñiga.
• Other works include a sacred parody, Misa de amores (censored on several occasions). and two manuals on love and courtly behaviour: Manual de amor and Reglas a los galanes.
• He is author of the text of the villancico “En una linda floresta” formerly attributed to the Marqués de Santillana.
