Tomás Daza was the father of vihuelist Esteban Daza. He is first mentioned in documents related to his marriage to Juan Daza in 1535, so may have been born 1510-1515 and lived in Valladolid until his death in 1569. He was son of el licenciado Esteban Daza and doña Inés de los Rios, members of the lower nobility. Esteban the vihuelist was the firstborn of fourteen children.
There is no evidence concerning how Tomás spent his life, including no evidence of education, profession or other employment. The many documents concerning him are without any reference to music.
