ruiz2009: “In the inventory of the possessions of… Juan de Guzmán [3rd Duke of Medina Sidonia, †1507] drawn up in 1507, there were, in addition to an impressive collection of Flemish books of hours (some of which the duke had commissioned himself in Flanders), books of verse (‘coplas’) with the ducal arms on the binding, old songbooks (‘cancioneros’) and a ‘libro cancionero de la tablas quebrada de canto de órganos’ which must have contained polyphony from the second half of the 15th century. The same inventory lists the banners with the ducal device belonging to the four sackbut players and six trumpeters, a claviorgan ‘desconçertado, con sus fuelles, metido en su caxa de madera guarnesçido destaño’, two vihuelas and a lute, in their cases, and an organ ‘destaño, con sus fuelles, metidos en una caxa de madera’ (Archivo de la Real Chancillería de Granada = ARChGr, caja 764, pieza 13, ff.10v–11, 17v, 18v, 24v, 25v, 27v, 28v, 50r–v).
