romanillos2002, p. 372: examined to become a maestro violero 31-10-1653. He was 26 years old. Examiners: Andrés Serrano, Francisco Méndez. He had a scar on the crown of his head. For examination he made “una viguela de [b]ordones una arpa de dos ordenes una violilla de arco”. In 1664, together with Jusepe González and Juan Ximénez made a petition requesting that they should not be obliged to buy their strings from retailers in the drug store. They stated that they had large families to keep, had to pay a contribution for the upkeep of the army and were left with little money.
