romanillos2002, p. 20: “(b.c. 1584- d.c. 1653). Manuel de Argüello was a witness at the examination of Pablo de Herrera in 1607(1). [see Appendix No. 7]. He was one of the examiners for the Guild of violeros of Madrid in1629 when Alonso Ruiz took his examination.(2) In 1638 he was a witness for Juan Hidalgo who he had known since he was born. Manuel de Argüello declared that he was fifty-four years old, born in Valladolid, and had been living in Madrid for thirty-two years. He was living in Diego de la Fuente’s house in the calle de las Carretas, Madrid.(3) Manuel de Argüello, master guitar maker, died intestate and his household and workshop contents were valued for sale by Francisco Méndez and Francisco de la Ano on 11 July 1653.(4) [see Appendix No. 18]
