romanillos2002, p. xxvi: “The violero Francisco de Lipuste was given permission by the Guild of violeros in Madrid in 1619 to sell a vihuela which was strung as a guitar ‘…viguela aunque de presente esta encordada en orden de guitarra.” The document giving this detail is given in English translation as Appendix 10 in Romanillos.
romanillos2002, p. 210: In 1619 this permission was given by Antonio Hidalgo and Lázaro Rodríguez. He still had to produce the other instruments as stipulated in the Ordinances in order to complete his examination.
