cf Díez. rennert 11-12 Doc from valladolid 6 julio 1554 "Lope de rueda y Mariana de Rueda su mujer" contra Juan de la Cerda heredero y sucesor de don Gaston de la Cerda, duque de Medinaceli". About 1546, Mariana (later Lope's wife) had served as a singer and dancer for the duke, had left his company having married ca 1552, but owed money which she sought. The trial lasted until March 1557, during which time all were still living in Valladolid. Francisco de la Vega "Músico y tañedor de valladolid" was among the witnesses and had presumably either been in the employ of the duke or in the company of Lope
