ward1953 (61) quotes “Ma sopra tutto parmi gratissimo il cantare alla viola per recitare”. Ward also draws attention that contemporary French English and German translations of the work translate this as ‘to sing to the lute’ and in spanish, Boscán ‘to sing to the vihuela’ No translation suggests a bowed instrument.
Attended the ceremonies for Philip II’s birth and baptism 21 May 1527 in Valladolid. Papal nuncio 1526. Died in Toledo February 1529. Letter of condolence: Carlos V “Es muerto uno de los mejores caballeros del mundo”
