In his Libro de Descripción, Pacheco comments in his “portrait” of the organist Francisco Peraça (portrait 47)that : “también decían del Pedro Bravo (gran músico de vihuela) que solo Peraça era Músico, y los demás oficiales de la Música. Era cosa maravillosa que en un instrumento tan imperfecto como el monacordio tañía con tanta excelencia y superioridad, que imitaba en el tañido de la vihuela de Julio Severino excelente músico de ocho órdenes, y el mayor que se conoció en aquellos tiempos”
(They also said of Pedro Bravo (a great vihuela player) that only Peraça was a “Musico”, and the others were “musical tradesmen.” It was a marvellous thing that on such an imperfect instrument as the monochord he played with such excellence and superiority that he imitated the playing of the vihuela of Julio Severino, an excellent musician of eight courses [8-course lute], and the greatest that was known in those times.
