Hernando Bejerano was a noted violero, member of a dynasty of violeros in cluding Cristobal, Diego, Juan, and Fernando. The Bejerano family seem to have been players as well as makers. The following documentary evidence survives:
• 1564 — Guadalajara, the 4º duque del Infantado pays ‘a hernando bejerano y su hijo músicos de viguela de arco, 25,000 mrs’” (pujol1949, romanillos2002)
• 1570 — In 1570 the violero Hernando Bejerano owed fifty-six and a half Castilian silver reales for 345.420 kgs. of ebony (3 arrobas y 2 libras de palo de ébano). (AHPM, Carta de obligación, 17-02-1570, Prot: 646, fol. 445) Cited by Romanillos (romanillos2002, 35).
• 1577— “At the meeting of musical instrument makers in Madrid in 1577 to elect examiners and overseers he voted for Juan de Carrión and Juan de Borgoña. Hernando Bejerano and Juan de Carrión were elected to be examiners and overseers (AHPM, 5-05-1577, Prot: 981, folios 609-11, cited in romanillos2002, 35)
• 1578 — Hernando Bejerano in Madrid in 1578 was one of the examiners of Juan Rodríguez to become a maestro violero (AHPM, Prot. 982 -- see: Juan Rodríguez).

• 1578.12.27 — At the Guild meeting (Junta de bioleros) in 1578 Hernando Bejerano voted for Juan de Carrión and Antonio Duarte to be veedores for that year (AHPM, Prot: 982, fol. 1255r, cited in romanillos2002, 35.
