1545 - leased a workshop in the area “a los violeros” in Toledo (from Reynaud)
1563- paid 34 ducados for two harps, one large and one small.
1565 - paid 6750 mrs for a harp plus repairs to a harp and a cittern.
1577 - present at a meeting of violeros in Madrid to elect overseers and examiners.
1578 - elected overseer and examiner in Madrid along with Hernando Bejerano. Document signed on his behalf by a witness because he was illiterate.
1578 - one of the examiners of Juan Rodríguez [see Appendix 3]
1578 - nominated to be overseer and examiner
1584 - one of the violeros who met to propose changes to the Ordinances [see Appendix 11]
1586 - Examined Juan de Aldaz on “una biguela llana” according to the testimony of Diego Fernández in 1607. [Appendix 5]

1588 - one of the examiners of Pedro Tofiño [Appendix No. 4]
Several declarations by his violero grandson Juan de Rojas Carrión in early 17th-century documents:
• (1602) that his late grandfather had invented the double harp and taught him to make this instrument
• (1602) his grandfather examined him on “arpas y biguela y biolon a imitación de los extranjeros” Romanillos translates “violón” as cello [!]
• (1621) that his grandfather had died fifteen years ago [sic!] and that he had made and repaired instruments for the King as official violero to the Royal Household.
