Biographical information

Cousin of Exteban Daza. He was Oidor in the Chancillería in Valladollid and one of the most prominent lawyers in the city. He built his palace in the Calle del Rosario [now calle San Diego] in Valladolid, from 1635 to 1979 the Convento de las Brígida and now the Archivo General de Castilla y León. Concerning the building see:ón — The article also includes photographs of the inside of his palace.

Butrón actively helped the Daza family who lived in the same street when vihuelist Esteban Daza was a child. In a codicil, he bequeathed his library to Esteban Daza and his brother Gaspar Daza Maldonado for them to use in their studies of law. In 1568 he revoked this bequest after both boys left off their studies.

Butrón was also father-in-law of Hernando de Ábalos de Sotomayor, to whom Esteban Daza’s El Parnasso is dedicated.
