Untexted intabulation of a villancico by Mateo Flecha found in the Cancionero de Uppsala. Valderrábano’s version only gives the first 30 bars of the Flecha original, only just over half of the estribillo.
Gómez, Uppsala, (gomezUP, 110) points out that the refrain is quoted to be sung in an anonymous Farsa del Sacramento de Peralforja (mid 16th C) (Colección de autos, no 72) --see flecha2013, 43. The refrain is also quoted in an Endecha by Pedro de Orellana (†1560) quoted in full in the same study. This latter version is included in the Cancionero de Medinaceli. This setting was also intabulated by Fuenllana (fu145).
