Rubric: “Here follow four fantasias in Mode 5. First degree [of difficulty]. This is a free fantasia (fantasía suelta) in the same style as the two preceding. It begins with obscure imitation of the initial theme 1, and after entries in the other 2 voices, moves on to new music in free polyphony with one of Valderrábano’s favorite motives introduced in cc. 37-47 as theme 2 in imitation. New music then take the music to its end in typical Valderrabano style with erratic voice leading and entries, and haphazard whim. Registration is good e.g. cc. 15-20 at end of opening statements.
