Rubric: “this fantasia is based on a Quia fecit”. A short parody (112 compases) on an unidentified Magnificat verse, . Valderrabano refers to it in the table of contents as “de contrapunto,” usually a reference to imitative treatment. Certainly more motivic and quasi-imitative than many of his other fantasias. It has, perhaps, more cadential orientation than others, and modulates to areas not typical of mode 8 e.g. to “A minor” at c. 72. It begins with rather loosely resembled versions of theme 1 imitated broadly. The work develops an initial theme until c.25, then theme 2 is twice stated. At c.40, theme 3 is imitated in canon and then suelto twice in top voice. Thereafter music flows freely from cadence to cadence. A semblance of theme 2 is given at c.85 ff and a frequent motive in Valderrabano’s music appears at c.91 = theme 4 >> free to end.
