Rubric: “This fantasia is of the third level [of difficulty]. Mode 1”. Here we have a short polythematic fantasia of 74 compases that opens and closes with not too rigorous imitation, between which is sandwiched idiomatic writing with a large proportion of redobles.
Theme I begins a section of loose imitation, followed by free phrases to K at c. 25. Theme 1 is stated again to begin the redoble section which occupies most of the piece. A cadence at c. 60 and stretto of theme 2 (perhaps to reinforce the return to the modal centre?) begins the final section.
