Commentary

An intabulation of an unknown setting of the second stanza of the hymn “Christe, Redemptor omnium” sung at first and second Vespers for the Feast of All Saints (Nov. 1). Valderrábano’s text is corrupt. The work would appear to come from a source that sets the alternate stanzas as polyphony. Within chronological possibilities, settings of “Beata quoque agmina” survive by Jachet, Christoforo Montemayor, Carpentras, Willaert, and Thomas Stolzer.
