Commentary

Another unidentified, tentatively anonymous intabutlation of an Agnus Dei from a polyphonic mass. Valderrábanos rubric in Silva de Sirenas says: Here follows an Agnus Dei of better musical [material] than the previous one. It is in four voices, in G tuning, third grade of difficulty on a cantus firmus.” The cantus firmus is in three long phrases (see below), in the superius voice. The mode has been assigned on the basis of the cantus firmus.
