Commentary

Rubric: “Another fantasia in three voices in mode 1 on la fa sol la re. The C clef is on the third [course] at the first fret.”
A monothematic fantasia on the theme A–F–G–A–D. It is a quite attractive and competently constructed work. The theme is used throughout, although at first with an added “re” at the beginning note giving, it the shape: re la fa sol la re or D–A–F–G–A–D. Despite the initial rubric, the piece is set on the vihuela as if in G tuning rather than A. The opening of the work is quite interesting but then it becomes somewhat tedious and loses direction, and the awkward fingerings found between compases 70 & 90 make the effort surpass the dividend. Theme 2, a subtheme, briefly appears in T/B imitation as preparation for the cadence in bar 15. An Interesting point to observe is the use of successive statements of theme in one voice as in the previous work (pi44), especially in bars 28-35. There is also some use of repetition, for example, the phrase of bar 16 is repeated immediately; and then there is a sectional repetition near end of piece.
