Fir this fantasia, Milán tells the reader that “this fantasia is in the eighth mode and the faster you play it the better it will be.” It is a polythematic imitative fantasia reminiscent of the early pieces in libro 1 because of its vivacity, brevity and wit. It falls into aregular formula: imitative – motivic – block repetition. It has metrical change: ¢ C• ¢ ¢3. The final section isbuilt from tiny one-compás cells: x1, x2, x3, y1, y2, y3, y4, and free material . Theme 9 is in the ‘y’ cell. The link between sections III & IV seems not altogether satisfactory, similarly the harmonic shift from “G” to “e minor” is enough in itself without the complete change of idea from 6 to 7 which occurs at the same point (compás 87).
