Commentary

Rubric: “These tientos that follow go according to the terms of the seventh an eighth modes and have to be played with the chords slow and the redobles fast as I have already said”.

Again, a long tiento of 206 compases. It is in D tonality when using a vihuela in A, therefore a model transposition. It is very similar in structure to Tento 2.

The earliest modern transcription or arrangement of this piece was made by Camille Saint-Saéns and published in 1898 (saintsaens1898)
