A polythematic sectional fantasia in consonancia y redoble style. The general direction of the work seems to be that of upward thrusts, gaining in momentum and intensity, then forming a homophonic plateau and tapering away. My sectionalization is based upon the “coronadas” that Milán has included. This is undoubtedly a beautiful work with a distinctive distinctive sound: it features a section in triple metre (dance-like), cross-relations. Melodic development and implicit suggestion is used to increase intensity. Dance like qualities are obviously associable with the tañer de gala style. In broad terms, sections I-VIII = development, intensity growth, section IX = culmination, and section X = gentle release [coda].
