Setting by Fuenllana of the “Epístola’ or “carta” text by Juan Boscán, a poem of nearly 250 verses, 81 tercets plus a final quatrain. The melody in the the alto of a four-part texture is set homophonically, presumably by Fuenllana although he doesn’t specifically say so. The second stanza is set in “three contrapuntal voices by the author on the same melody (plainsong). The whole text is not given, because the remaining verses can be sung to the same music”.
