The third of Fuenllana’s Fantasias for five-course vihuela. It is a short polythematic imitative, short fantasia 66 compases. It appears to be conceived in mode 6 and transcribes well as a piece for a vihuekla in C. Jacobs, however, transcribes it in D tuning as a mode 8 piece with an F# signature.
It opens with iimitations of theme 1 until a cadence at compas 26. Thereafter, theme 2 begins with looser imitations, and from 44 onwards, the work is free with only one varied reference to 2 in the Bass at 50-52. Like all the vihuela de 5 ordenes pieces, most is 3 voice writing although 4 voice initial exposition. 4th voice is added for chords around cadences.
