A polythematic, imitative fantasia. It comprises four monothematic sections in a work of 90 compases. The work divides into two sections I-II | III-IV at compás 50, close to the mid point. I & II share voice-pairing tong themes, broad polyphony. III & IV share short motivic themes, sequential writing, quaver movement, denser texture.
• I (1-28) Theme 1-T/B – S/A @ 2 x S >> 1b (= mod of tail) in T/B >> free.
• II (27-50) Theme 2 + 2b B/T – S/A similar pairs not identical with main theme in lower voice with counter theme 2b in upper. >> 2 modified >> free >> K using S/A – T/B pairs.
• III (50-64) descending quaver theme as stretto canon. Full texture although a3
• IV (64-90) Quaver theme with the same rhythm as theme 3, and the same sequential canonic application but with voice pairs: B/T – S/A sequential canon >> B&S in parallel 10ths in sequence of theme with middle in canon >> K including imitation of theme 3. Section IV draws all work together by combining the two texture types + its use of 3 in K.
General observations: Theme 1 has tonal answers. Theme 4 is also the final theme of Fantasia 26 (fu088)
