Commentary

Literal intabulation of Guerrero’s four-voice setting of the popular hymn “Pange lingua”, particularly associated with the feast of Corpus Christi. The hymn melody in the superius voice is indicted in red ciphers. The vocal model is to be found in the manuscripts for minstrel ensemble in Manuscript 975 of the Biblioteca Manuel de Falla (E-GR-mf 975, fols. 129v-130r) and Choirbook XIX of Puebla Cathedral, Mexico (MEX-Pc 19, fols. 62v-63r). Concordance established by Juan Ruiz Jiménez (ruiz2022).
