Polythematic, imitative, long fantasia of 212 compases. Typical, although has distinct individual features.
I (1-27) Exposition of section I has 2 themes – 1 ostinato-like, descending, outlines mode. 2 – More usual type. = (1-27)
II (27-57) Theme 3 voice pairs S/A – T/B >> stretto >> suelto (little free material)
III (57-132) long section by virtue of constantly avoided cadence. Begins with 4 suelto T – S – A – B – T – S >> free with motive 5 unifying >> stretto of 6 >> free >> descend 3rd intensifying in M values from 110 ff. >> 5 >> K.
IV (132-170) 3 is reintroduced as 3b, quitted of its initial note and need suelto.
