Commentary

An intabulation of the three-voice “Benedictus” from Morales, “Missa Gaude Barbara”, part of the “Sanctus”. Schöner suggests that it is most likely based on the Roman print of 1544 (RISM M3582). Concerning the vocal model, see: Anglés, Morales, Opera Omnia VI, Texto, 10; Pogue, Jaques Moderne, 202; Stevenson, Cathedral Music, 72.
