Song Text

Callese ya Mercurio y cesse Orfeo
atras a de quedar su gloria
ora que ya de ti pastora,
y de tu voz suabe
se puede dezir que en ellos cabe.
Pues que si te oyeran,
mas fama que inmitarte no quisieran.

Let Mercury be silent and Orpheus stop!
Their glory needs to trail behind.
At present, only of you, shepherdess,
and of your soft voice,
can it be said, that it fits within them,
for if they heard you,
no other honour would they wish but to imitate you
