Commentary

A polythematic fantasia in mode 5, imitative in naturee, and a tightly constructed work of 106 comp.
I 1-50. Three themes. 1+2 begin as voice pair thrice stated --> variation of 1 leads to 3 (= inversion of 1), imitated, then 2 is introduced in its own right and imitated, with head of 1 joining in. --> 41-50 = redoble based free coda, cementing tonality.
II Theme 4, (formulaic theme) imitated forming new beginning. 1˅ quoted above 3rd statement of 4. 4 continues to K< 5 is then formed by adding a few notes to 4 and imit to K at 82.
III 82-106 free section. Movement in Seminima above held bass – idiomatic, reduced to a2 texture.
Work is clearly sectionalized by cadences.

Venegas de Henestrosa reworked this fantasia. See 1557/2, no. 64 [Anglés edition, p. 91-2, Fantasia X]
