Pavana in modes 5 and 6. Also of Milán’s own invention. His rubric reads: “The pavana which follows below goes according to the rules of the fifth and sixth modes: and as I have said, should be played two or three times so that it seems as they are” -- this last phrase means “so it sounds the way pavanes really are.” Pavana 6 (mi028) is a triple meter version of the same melody, a tone higher.
