The vihuela at the Jacquemart-Andre Museum is not a Spanish instrument. It does not seem to have been intended as a performance instrument, either. This hypothesis is based on the fact that the 16th-century Spanish vihuelas were either concave or flat. (Piza, Antoni) RILM NO.: 89-08303-ap
