Silva de sirenas ranks in fourth place among the arts of vihuela playing printed in 16th-century Spain. This chapter explores the book as a social product, particularly considering its paratexts. From this perspective, it is possible to observe how the symbolic power relations between the three main agents involved in its creation are represented and expressed: author, patron, and the reader to whom it is potentially addressed. Moreover, it offers new answers in relation to its printing process, the number and the variety of its prefaces, and it provides a glimpse of the female reader to whom it is also addressed.
