Abstract: In the first half of the sixteenth century, the brand-new Infantado Palace in Guadalajara housed a lavish court that could compete in wealth and size with the greatest courts of the Castilian high nobility, and even royalty. During the government of Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, III Duke of the Infantado (1500-1531), called «el Grande», a nourished musical list enriched its chapel, its camera and its stables. The chapel, located in the most luxurious room of the palace, the Salon de Linajes, had a large number of chaplains and singers, as well as organists and minstrels. The heraldic instruments, trumpets and atabales, also constituted a numerous group that emphasized the greatness of its illustrious gentlemen. The Mendoza court was a destination coveted by many Hispanic musicians due to its high level and high salaries.

Resumen: En la primera mitad del siglo XVI, el flamante palacio del Infantado en Guadalajara albergó una fastuosa corte que podía competir en riqueza y tamaño con las mayores cortes de la alta nobleza castellana, e incluso de la realeza. Durante el gobierno de Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, III duque del Infantado (1500-1531), llamado «el Grande», un nutrido elenco musical enriquecía su capilla, su cámara y sus caballerizas. La capilla contaba con gran número de capellanes y cantores, además de organistas y ministriles. Los instrumentos heráldicos, trompetas y atabales, también constituían un numeroso grupo que realzaba la grandeza de sus ilustres señores. La corte mendocina fue destino codiciado por muchos músicos hispanos debido a su alto nivel y sus elevados salarios.
