Abstract: this dotocral thesis, principally about musical iconography, is situated in the areas of musicology, art history, and music education. It addresses a series of premises which stress the importance of art-historical study of the cataguing of artworks that contain musical iconography with the purpose of deriving certain concluision of a musicological and organological character, and of using these images in the area of music education.
It is work based on the RIGOROUS ANALYSIS OF 79 WORKS OF MURAL AND PANEL PAINTING FROM ARAGON, CARRIED OUT DURING THE 14th AND 15th CENTURIES, SELECTED on the basis of THEIR ARTISTIC VALUE AND ICONOGRAPHIC INTEREST. THE CATALOGUE OF ARAGONESE PICTORIAL WORKS PRESENTED HERE SHOWS THE FORMAL AND STYLISTIC CHANGE THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE ANCIENT KINGDOM OF ARAGON DURING THE 14TH AND 15TH CENTURIES.
ON THE OTHER HAND, THE THESIS UNDERLINES THE IMPORTANCE THAT MUSICAL ICONOGRAPHY CAN HAVE IN THE DIDACTIC PROCESSES OF UNIVERSITY MUSIC TEACHING, PROVIDING A TEACHING EXPERIENCE CARRIED OUT WITH TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS, WHICH AIMS TO REFLECT ON THE IMPORTANCE OF MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO BROADEN THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN THE FIELD OF HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC HERITAGE, BOTH IN THE ARTS AND IN MUSIC.
