Summary

Abstract: The vihuela books printed in Spain in the XVIth Century are a source for the study of musical repertory for this instrument. A large variety of genres are represented in the vihuela repertory: instrumental music like fantasias, arrangements of polyphonic music, sacred and profane, romances and villancicos, Latin poetry and sonnets from Petrar- ca and Sannazaro for voice and vihuela. This paper is about relationships between text and music focusing on the sonnet O Gelosia from Jacopo Sannazaro present in two vihuela books: El Maestro de Luis Milán (1535-1536) y Tres libros de música en cifras para vihuela de Alonso Mudarra (1546).
