March 1535, Carlos V founded the Casa del Príncipe for the education of Felipe II. For this purpose he comissioned G. Fernández de Oviedo to write the Libro de camara real del Príncipe Juan to provide a model. Events date from c. 1490 . Includes earliest reference to vihuela de mano. Relevant passage quoted in Anglés, Reyes Católicos, vol. I, 75. This is the earliest refernce to the vihuela de mano. The book was amplified in 1546-47 and given the above title.
