Leading tones used on tonic cadences (even interrupted if one voice goes to the tonic. Avoids semitone cadence if a voice finishes on another degree and the tonic chord comes shortly thereafter. Uses Phrygian cadences on V of mode I by using flat VI. More flexibility with cadences where only one voice finishes, depending on the degree of repose of the other voices. Apparently done with care and sensitivity for both music and text. Avoids raising semitones in reiterative sections.
