The printed tablatures by Luis Venegas de Henestrosa and Antonio de Cabezón for keyboard instruments, harp, and vihuela allow conclusions about the sound and construction of the vihuela that verify the recurringly debated difference between the vihuela and the guitar. It is possible to discern that the vihuela sought to imitate the sound of keyboard instruments, which may also have served as a model for the construction of the vihuela.
